As a single mother of an autistic little girl, I always felt the need for my daughter to be accepted/respected wherever I went. Often times I would find myself sad, upset, & in uncomfortable situations, eventually explaining to others about my daughter’s condition after getting those weird looks or comments from people who had no idea that she was on the spectrum. Going from my daughter having meltdowns, fears, overstimulation, & sensory issues at the public places or certain environments, I would eventually end up crying in the car feeling helpless and frustrated while wishing the world was a better place for autistic children too. Battling already with the hardship of what is to have a special needs child and having to deal with the ignorance of society, led me to feeling burn out constantly. I felt tired and overwhelmed at one point and eventually found myself searching for shirts that raise awareness for autism so that people would eventually get the message without me having to say a word. Being a petite girl made it 3x harder to find something that fit, was cute, and that I really liked or could style, which led my imagination to begin creating my own unique thing. Social media made me realize how many of us are out here in the world raising autistic children, or have autistic family and/or friends. I realized there’s a huge need for awareness, but who wants to wear boring clothes? I knew right away we needed pieces for all shapes and sizes. And of course different, fun, cute, unique styles for anyone and everyone to wear, but still as unique as each one of us! Our goal is to raise awareness in the most fun, positive, cool way and forget the “feeling sorry” type of vibe, and instead change it for the the “fun,accepting,kind,welcoming” vibe that these individuals need in the world we live in today! It’s time to not just make a change, but also be the change! It is time to do something different to embrace the potential that autistic individuals have!  There is room for every single one of us in this world, just like a puzzle piece, each one is unique! As a mom who has been through it all, I want every single autism parent out there to feel like this website is a space where they are finally able to relate, where they can navigate the site and feel like this is sort of their space, a site that gets a giggle out of them even after a rough moment/day.. As a Mexican American, I felt the need to raise awareness for both, the Spanish & English speaking community, because at the end of the day we are all Sangre Azul.
